Henry Suber, Jr.
June 20, 1933 - August 3, 2020

Mr. Henry Suber, Jr. made his peaceful transition to Heaven on Monday, August 3, 2020, at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock, AR, surrounded by family. He was born June 20, 1933, in Monticello, AR, to the late Flossie Leonard and late L.B. Suber. Prior to Henry’s passing, he was identified as the oldest living grandchild of John and Lizzie “Momma Lizzie” Leonard.
He was a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and Bartholomew Masonic Lodge #28 of Monticello, AR.
Henry was a hard worker throughout his lifetime. He was hired as one of the first employees at J.P. Price Lumber Company in 1965 and retired after more than thirty years of service.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. Suber and Flossie Leonard; brother, Johnny Fred Jefferson; daughter, Claretta Smith; son, Melvin Suber; three grandsons, Melvin Holman, Sr., Carlos Holman, Xavier Holman; great-granddaughter, Bri’Juana Cavaness, and son-in-law, Rev. R. Shay Gillespie.
Henry leaves to cherish his memory, a beautiful family who can rejoice in knowing that he is present with the Lord! He is survived by his devoted wife, Vera; one son, Kenneth (Margaret) Rogers of Pine Bluff, AR; eleven daughters, Catherine Spears of Richmond, CA, Linda Bess of Pinole, CA, Kawana (Bennie) Yarbough of Joliet, IL, Sherrie Gillespie of Monticello, AR, Cheryl Elaine (Joe) Ivy of Pine Bluff, AR, Cynthia Bennett of Pine Bluff, AR, Donna (Bennie) King of Chester, VA, Patricia (Don) King of Rineyville, KY, Marion Yvette (Joe Lee) Wright of Monticello, AR, Pamela (Lee) Trotter of Monticello, AR, LaToya (P.A.) Marshall of Austin, TX; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maurine Ward and Mae Thomas both of St. Louis, MO; a special cousin, Hiller “Lil Jack” Suber of Monticello, AR; and host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, and friends.
Funeral service strictly adhering to COVID-19 guidelines (maximum of 50 people, masks, and social distancing required) will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. D.J. Buffington officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.
A come and go, walk-through viewing strictly adhering to COVID-19 guidelines (masks and social distancing required) will be Sunday, August 9, 2020 5:00 pm - 6:00pm at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
