Hugh W. Pennington
August 12, 1927 - June 19, 2019

Hugh Warden Pennington, age 91 of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at his home in Monticello, AR. He was born August 12, 1927, in Drew County, AR to the late Charles Leonard Pennington and Susie Warden Wilson Pennington.

He was a retired Georgia Pacific forester with 42 years of service and was a longtime member of New Hope Assembly of God Church before becoming a member of First Assembly of God Church of Monticello. Mr. Hugh loved the outdoors, forestry and hunting. His wife was the love of his life and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of his eye.

It was said by many that you didn't have to talk to him long to know he was a good man. He led his family by Christian examples and will always have a special place in many hearts. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Charles and Bobby Pennington; and three sisters, Yvonne May, Betty Wallis and Jane Harris.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Christine Rodgers Pennington of Monticello; one daughter, Gayle Pennington York and husband Roy of Monticello; one son, Mike Pennington and wife Susan of Monticello; eight grandchildren, Christie Davila of Springdale, Murry Walker and wife Lee Ann of Springdale, Michelle Galyean and husband Seth of Forney, TX, Laura Hartley and husband Cody of Guam, Shawn Woods and husband Shad of Fayetteville, Patrick York and wife Ginny of White Lake, MI, Roianne Johnson and husband Chris of Symsonia, KY and Robert York of Clarksville, TN; thirteen great grandchildren, Grayson, Christian, Ivy, Peyton, Baylee, Grace, Asher, Liam, Harper, Abbigayle, Allicen, Lillie, Kaden, Josh and Jonathan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Hope Independent Assembly of God Church, 738 Bowser Rd.
