September 21, 1935 - August 31, 2019

Doyle Curtis "Curt" Mayo, age 83 of the Valley Community in Drew County passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Drew Memorial Hospital. He was born September 21, 1935 in Drew County, AR to the late Roy T. Mayo and Pauline Thomas Mayo.

He was a retired Forster Tech for Georgia Pacific Timber Company, a United States Army Veteran and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Curt was an avid outdoorsman as he loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He was very connected to the history of Drew County and to the log cabin that he lived in that was passed down through the years. The cabin dates back to 1860's. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Reva White.

Survivors include his sister, Faye Mayo Degges of Nashville, TN; five nephews, Roy Alan White and Lindsay White and wife Lizzie all of Lacey, James Degges of Chattanooga, TN, Bruce Degges of Nashville, TN and Paul Degges and wife Saundra of Brentwood, TN; one niece, Karen Degges of Nashville, TN; a special double first cousin, Leo Thomas and wife Ellen of Wilmar; along with numerous great nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Beulah Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
