Russell "Jimmy" James Baxter, Jr.
October 21, 1936 - February 2, 2021

Russell James "Jimmy" Baxter, Jr., age 84 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born October 21, 1936, in Monticello, AR to the late Russell James Baxter, Sr. and Frances Evelyn Jackson Baxter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Hardcastle Baxter.

He was a retired country music musician in the 1960's and 70's where he was the drummer in several bands, and held various jobs in the 1980's and 90's. His latest jobs were at the Southeast Arkansas Education Cooperative and War Eagle Boats. He was a United States Navy Veteran and was of the Protestant faith.
Jimmy was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and golfer where he was a member of Monticello Country Club.

His survivors include two sons, Russell "Rusty" James Baxter, III of Holiday Island, AR and John Andrew "Andy" Baxter of Weatherby Lake, MO; six grandchildren, April, Rusty and Jonathan Baxter of Van Buren, and Blaire, Clayton and Georgia Baxter of Westherby Lake, MO; and three great grandchildren.

A private burial will take place in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Carthage, AR. A celebration of life service will take place at a date to be determined this spring. We invite you to sign Jimmy's guestbook page on our website at www.stephensondearman.com.
