Joyce Evelyn Causey Hopkins
March 29, 1946 - May 30, 2021

Joyce Evelyn Causey Hopkins, age 75 of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, May 30, 2021, at her home. She was born March 29, 1946, in Lacey, AR to the late Macon Causey and Frances DeLois Young Causey.
She was a 1964 graduate of Drew Central High School, a 1968 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education and a 1971 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas where she received her Master of Science of Education. Joyce began working as a high school business and math teacher for St. Charles Schools, Star City Schools and UAM before taking the Monticello Schools District Treasurer position where she retired.
She has been a member of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church for 40 years. Joyce served on the United Way board for four years where she served as Secretary and President, member of the Monticello Billie Band Booster Club, lifetime member of the Southern Association of School Business Officials and a lifetime member of the Arkansas Teacher Retirement Association. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bobby Brown; and a nephew, Anthony Brown.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Larry Hopkins of Monticello; two daughters, Terri (Michael) Cossey of North Little Rock and Holli Wood of Monticello; grandsons, Nate and Chase Wood of Monticello; siblings, Brenda Brown of Spring, TX, Sherrill (Bill) Scroggins of Lacey, Mike (Brenda) Causey of Richland, MO, Connie (Tom) Ollie of Swansea, IL, Mark (Tina) Causey of Neosho, MO and Vaughn Causey of Gainesville, VA; a great aunt, Jean Tucker of Monticello; along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Roper officiating. Burial will be in Lacey Cemetery in Drew County, AR. There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Arkansas Hospice and Lacey Cemetery Association.
