Robert O'Neill Greenwood
February 28, 1950 - September 21, 2022

Robert O’Neill Greenwood departed this life on September 21, 2022. Robert was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas at Davis Hospital on February 28, 1950 to Brooks O’Neill and Dessie Grimes Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Gena Ward.
Having lived a short time in Hot Springs and then back to Pine Bluff, Robert and his family moved to Monticello in 1960, making it their home. He accepted Christ as his Savior at Boggs Springs Church Camp, was baptized, and became a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 13.
Robert had a love of sports, playing baseball from Little League to American Legion with shortstop being his favorite position. He was a starter on the Monticello High School Billies Basketball team, a 1968 graduate of MHS, and later attended A & M College. Robert also served 6 years in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era. He was an accomplished electrician, refrigeration technician, and carpenter.
Robert loved anything outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he was hard to outdo. Many found his skills remarkable, especially his daughter, nephews, and granddaughters. He believed every child should know how to hunt, fish, and ride in the mud and was more than happy to teach them.
Survivors include a daughter, Misty Greenwood of Monticello; siblings, Butch Greenwood of Little Rock, Patricia Greenwood Abbott (Tommy) and Steven Greenwood (Benette) of Monticello; two granddaughters, Joanna Wilson, and Heather Wilson of Monticello; six great-grandchildren; six nephews and one niece; and a special friend, Nancy Morgan and her children.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Larry Clements officiating. You can sign Robert's guestbook page at www.stephensondearman.com.
