Mr. Brown was one of the finest men I ever met. We met in the late '80s or early '90s, when I helped him with pruning the last batches of Christmas trees. His guidance for pruning was a good metaphor for how to live life: "Just cut away everything that doesn't look like a Christmas tree." His relationship with his wife was something to admire and aspire to, and I thought of him often, though I moved away in 1992. I am sorry to have missed another opportunity to talk with him. Please know that his presence in my life had a big impact on who I am today.
