Dr. Dwight Leo Witcher, age 78 of the Selma community, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at his home. He was born January 30, 1948, in Sherwood, AR to the late Leo Witcher and Doris Harrell Witcher.
He was a Veterinarian of 53 years having received his DVM from Oklahoma State University in 1973. He was a retired Animal Science Professor at UAM and member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church. Dwight loved to work on his ranch where he raised registered Beefmaster cattle and was influential in the early years of the Beefmaster association. He was awarded Drew County Farm Family of the year in 1994. He loved to share the gift of hard work with everyone who visited the farm. He loved to cook and was known for his chocolate skillet cake. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking, and teaching the younger generation everything he knew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Witcher.
He is survived by his wife Sherri Wallick Witcher of Selma; his children, Kristi Ferguson and husband Brian of Monticello, Justin Witcher and wife Callie of Monticello, Cary Witcher and wife Amanda of Sevierville, TN and Clay Witcher and wife Melissa of Heber Springs; grandchildren, Zaynlee Witcher, Leo Ferguson, Minnie Ferguson, Emmett Ferguson, Colton Witcher, Vanessa Witcher, Samantha Hale, Ashley Barton, Maddie Witcher and Devon Witcher; along with three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Pauline Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Leonard officiating. There will be a visitation preceding the funeral service from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
