John Wesley Hubbard, age 74, of Monticello, AR made his transition on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 3:00 a.m. He was born January 1, 1952, in Monticello, Arkansas to the late Helen (Jake) Hubbard and Julius Wherry. John accepted Christ at an early age at Campground A.M.E. Church. In his later years, John became a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He was a hardworking man at an early age. He was a brick mason, architect, welder, contractor, and had many more work trades. He was truly a wonderful man, who loved his family and anyone else, who knew him. He was funny, kind-hearted and had a way of making the room brighter with his stories and laughter. He deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Grasper Hubbard; his brother, Ricky Courtney; and sons, Levell Handley and Veance Jerry Binns.
John will be deeply missed by his surviving family, including his children, Delores (Barry) Woodard, Shelia (Lenard) Shelton, Bernester (Carl) Dupree, Gregory (Takisha) Binns, Subrinna Coleman, Gerald (Leeann) Binns, and adopted daughter, Kabrescha Binns; a step daughter, Shereray Sanderson; sister, Becky Daniels; brothers, Rev. Dewayne (Essie) Courtney and Dr. Sam (Dorothy) Wherry; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
There will be a wake from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Arkansas.
