John Michael “Farmer John†Richardson, age 72 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, AR. He was born January 24, 1954, in Huttig, AR to the late Joseph Matthew “Red†Richardson and Vina Hodges Richardson.
He was a retired boiler operator and was of the Assembly of God faith. John loved going fishing especially taking his children and grandchildren with him but, his greatest passion was making sure “Mama†was taken care of. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-brother, Billy Elbert "Bert" Frisby; his step-mother, Shirley Richardson; two sisters, Dolly Kobb and Melody Statham; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Phillip Barnett, Jerry Barnett and Altha Smith; and his mother and father-in-law; Myrtle and L.B. Barnett.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rose Marie Barnett Richardson of Monticello; his children, Misty Wood and husband Todd of Hermitage, Jo Altha Lloyd and husband Chris of Monticello and Angelica Painter and husband Brandon of Monticello; his siblings, Shirley Keller and husband Herb of Benton and Benjamin Wade Richardson of Big Springs, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, JoAnn Marter, Roger Barnett and Darron Barnett; grandchildren, Isaac, Josh, Matthew, Amirra, Jessie, Allison, Rayne, Dixie, Holly, Darrion and Brandon, Jr.; a great grandchild, Lilith; a special person that was like a brother to him, Jeff Daughtery; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry Norris officiating. There will be a visitation one hour preceding the funeral service from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
