Ruby Joyce (Carr) Miller made her appearance into this world on September 6, 1945, in New Hope, AR, to the late James and Elana (Rush) Carr. Ruby transitioned peacefully on September 7, 2026, at her home in Monticello, AR.

She loved the Lord and began a relationship with him early in life. She joined Mt. Olive Church at a young age and remained a member until she departed this life. Her mom and dad instilled the importance of salvation into their children at a young age. God, family and friends were all a significant part of Ruby’s life.

Ruby’s early education began at Lacey School in Lacey, AR. Due to hard times and scarce resources, she had to cut her education short. She immediately went to work to help provide for her family. She had numerous jobs in her 81 years here. At a young age she began working in the pulpwood business with her brother James. She also spotted trees and worked very hard. Her other jobs included Burlington Spinning Plant (27 years) and the health care field as a caretaker until her health began to decline. Although she had to stop working for a living, she continued to work for the Lord.
She loved staying busy, taking care of others, and participating in numerous hobbies. She stayed busy by gardening, fishing, and planting flowers in her yard with Stewart “Paw Paw” Lambert. She took care of many people. Not just at home, but at work, strangers she met, and people in her community. Her hobbies included rummage sales, flea markets, traveling, decorating her home, shopping, cooking, bargain hunting and buying stuff to give to people who were in need.

One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on her front porch with her legs crossed watching cars go by and looking at the squirrels running up and down the trees. She swore she knew every car that passed by. She was definitely a “One of a Kind” lady! She will be remembered for her generous heart, hardworking spirit, making people laugh, and never meeting a stranger.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elana (Rush) Carr; her soulmate of 52 years, Stewart Lambert; her son, James Miller; her granddaughter, Amber White; a brother, James Carr; and her sisters, Mary Reid, Lucille Martin, Onnie Miller and Betty Rhodes.

Ruby is survived by her children, Desmond Miller, Tony Miller and Sharon Preston all of Monticello; her adopted children who she loved, Yolonda, Candace, Karissa and La’Donte Miller all of Monticello; her granddaughter/caretaker, Monica Miller of Monticello; her special nephew, Jason Simmon (Taneisha) of Sikeston, MO; her sisters, Lillie Polk, Linda Carr, Jessie Scott, Sandra (Kent) Spencer, Gertrude (Ronnie) Brooks and Jewel (Harold) Block; her best friend, Dollie Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

There will be a wake Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lacey Cemetery in Lacey, Arkansas.
