Albert Olin Beard, Jr., 93, of Monticello, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at his home. He was born January 5, 1919 in Drew County.

He was a retired poultry farmer, U. S. Army Veteran of WW II, where he received The Purple Heart and was a member of the Monticello Church of Christ where he was a former Elder. He was an avid fisherman and bowler. Albert was the son of the late Albert Olin Beard, Sr. and Nancy Irma Matthews Beard and was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Beard; one brother, Charles Beard; and three sisters, Helen Dieter, Gladys Tucker and Florence Boyd.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony “Tony” Beard and wife, Judy and Mike Beard and wife, Pam, all of Monticello; two daughters, Gwendolyn Ellis and Linda Forrest both of Monticello; nine grandchildren, Nancy McKeown, Michelle Gibson, Mitchell Ellis, Micah Beard, Marcus Beard, Clay Draper, Shawnna Cook, Candice Carter and Beau Beard; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
