William Fay Ross
April 7, 1923 - December 14, 2014

William Fay Ross, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 after a long and fruitful life.

Fay was born in Monticello, Arkansas, where he married the love of his life, Joy Avery, in 1943. Fay was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict piloting C-47�s and continued serving in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

After his WW II active duty, Fay and Joy remained in Monticello where they had two sons and Fay graduated from Arkansas A&M University.

The family moved to Enid, OK in 1949 where Fay began his career with Sears Roebuck. After several relocations, Fay and Joy moved to OKC where he retired from Sears in 1980. Not one to stay still, Fay started a second career with Industrial Fasteners and Fittings, servicing customers throughout Oklahoma.

Fay was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church for 39 years where he served in several capacities, including ordained deacon, elder, and a member of the Endowment Fund Trust and Pastor Search Committee.

Fay was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years. He is survived by sons Bill Jr. of Austin, Texas, Larry of Euless, Texas, sister in law Barbara Speakman and husband Tommy as well as several nieces and nephews.

Fay was a strong family and faith-centered husband and father who enjoyed helping others, working in his garden and good political conversations.

A gravesite memorial service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello April 9th at 2:00 pm. In case of inclement weather services will be held in the Chapel at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
