August 15, 1935 - August 20, 2020

Johnnie Alvin Williams, age 85 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020, at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock. He was born August 15, 1935, in Maben, MS to the late Winfred and Lucille Grimsley Williams. He was a retired owner and operator of Drew Theater and Monticello Drive-In for twenty-three years. He was a United States Army Veteran and a 32nd degree Mason. Johnnie was a faithful member of Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jimmie Williams; and his dear mother-in-law, Ollie Lancaster.
Johnnie is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-four years, Peggy Williams of Monticello; two sisters, Mary Alice Stevens and Margaret Jane Moore; three sons, Keith (Pat) of Monticello, David (Angie) of Texarkana and Bill (Kelli) of Apopka, FL; grandsons, Kyle (Samantha), Craig, Kip, Connor and Casey Williams; step-grandson, Joseph Engelkes; granddaughters, Traci and Natalie Williams; and special friends, Kim Kendrick Lawson, Erica Byers, Elise and Ella McDuff.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel, with burial following in Oakland Cemetery. A walk-through viewing will be Monday, August 24, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel following COVID-19 guidelines.
