James Monroe Hales, Sr., age 85 of Monticello, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Gardner Nursing Home in Star City. He was born December 22, 1928 in Monticello, AR to the late Harris Pope Hales and Edna Burks Hales. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Sanders Hales; a brother, Buddy Hales and infant brother, Donald Ray Hales.

He was a retired warehouse supervisor for Coca Cola Bottling Company and a member of First Assembly of God Church. James dearly loved spending time camping and fishing with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Hales and wife Elloise of Richmond, KY and Rick Hales and wife Kathy of Monticello; two sisters, Eula Mae Waller of Plano, TX and Joan Handley of Monticello; one brother, George Michael Hales of Monticello; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
