He retired from the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He joined the Air Force Reserves in Houston, TX after getting out of the Air Force. When he moved back to Arkansas, he joined the Army National Guard and retired from there. He also worked at Burlington, Spring Lift and Bones Auto Parts. He was a member and served as a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church. Cletis enjoyed baseball and umpired baseball for many years in Monticello. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ermil Posey and Herston Posey, four sisters, Lucille Henderson, Faye Naron, Melba Curry and Patricia Huffman.
Survivors include two sons, Lance Posey of Monticello and Tommy Posey of Texas; one daughter, Vickie McSwain of Texas; one sister, Shirley Rodgers of Monticello; five granddaughters, Whitney Gifford of Monticello, Chelsea Abercrombie of Texas, Mia Posey, Clara Posey and Samantha Posey, all of Texas; three grandsons, Randy McSwain of Texas, Chance Posey of Texas and Matthew Hewitt of Monticello; two great-grandsons, Haigen Gifford of Monticello and Nathaniel Abercrombie of Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
