She was a member of Eastside Baptist church, and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Bates and Jimmy Bates and one sister, Debbie Funderburg, all of Monticello.
She loved gardening and doing yard work, cooking, and canning fruits and vegetables from the garden. She enjoyed cross stitching and some quilting, and, of course, fishing.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Dale Avery of Monticello; one son, Charlie Avery of Severn, Maryland; one daughter, Tammie Avery of Monticello; a granddaughter, Ashlyn Burris and husband Eric; two brothers, Richard Bates and wife Linda, and Keith Bates and wife Lynn, both of Warren; two sisters, Lois Lytle of Monticello and Pat Thomas and Forrest Quickel of Pine Bluff; and a very special pet, Daisy.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Union at Rye Cemetery with Paul Mowrer officiating. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com
