She was a housewife and a member of Cominto Baptist Church. Throughout her life she enjoyed fishing, camping, working puzzle books and spoiling her precious dog, Hobo.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Merchant, whom she married December 11, 1953 in Greenville, Mississippi; her daughter, Pam Murphy and husband Johnnie of Monticello; her son, Rusty Merchant and wife Glenda of Cominto; one brother, Walter "Dub" Chester of Benton; two sisters, Jean Hooks of Halley and Shirley Kizer of Collins; one grandchild, Brooke Erin Murphy; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Christopher Reed and Blake Hendrix.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Rash Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made the Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, AR 72116 or Rash Cemetery, 198 S.
