Paul Edward Hoover, Sr., age 69 of Monticello, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born January 27, 1946 in Star City, AR to the late James Edmond Hoover and Georgia Kellum Hoover.

He retired from the United States Army, was of the Assembly of God faith and was an Army Recruiter in Monticello from 1977 to 1986 before retiring. He served in combat duty in Vietnam, and after returning from Vietnam, he served as a drill sergeant in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Lee, VA. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, James "Jack" Hoover.

Survivors include his wife, Ann McKinstry Hoover of Monticello; four sons, Paul Hoover, Jr. and wife Karen of Frankston, TX, Charles Hoover and wife Sherry of Woodlawn, Wayne Hoover and wife Michelle of Ladelle and Robert Hoover of Monticello; one daughter, Elizabeth Madison Hoover of Monticello; two stepsons, Kevin Webb and Cody Webb both of Monticello; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial in Old Union Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
