He was a retired logger and of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Ozment and Nig Harbor and one granddaughter, Melissa Barnett.
Survivors include two sons, David Barnett, Sr. of Monticello and Allen Cunningham of Texas; three grandchildren, David Barnett, Jr., Keena West and Althea Barnett, all of Monticello; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
