Juanita Mitchell (nee Welch) age 79 went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 14, 2016 in Bastrop after a lengthy illness and confinement. She was born in Shreveport, LA on July 16, 1936 to late Tommy Welch and Albertinia Walker Hall.

Ms. Mitchell was a member of Christin Liberty Center, Monroe, Louisiana where her past was Johnny Drumgold. Her love for God and His people has been witnessed by all fortunate to have been in her presence.

Juanita graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern University with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics and from Northeast Louisiana State University with a Master's Degree in Counseling. As a master educator she challenged herself to make life-changing differences in the lives of the youth whom she served. She taught in the public school systems of Bogalusa, Richwood and Bastrop, Louisiana before retiring as a counselor from the Bastrop School System.

Survivors include her husband, Even Mitchell of Bastrop, Louisiana; two sons, Kevin Mitchell of Country Hills, Illinois and Keith Mitchell of Bedford Height, Ohio; special "adoptees", James Washington and Darryl Rayford; grandchildren, Daniel and Cameron Mitchell of Illinois and Keilen and Kyle Mitchell of Ohio; siblings, Tommie Welch, Wally E. Welch Caleb, William Hall, Frank Hall, Levell Hall, Ruthey Hall, Joyce Hall Profit, Donna Hall Dial and Andrua Hall Patterson. "Waiting Siblings" who preceded her in death are Amerigo Hall, John D. Welch, Alce Hall, Carol Welch Weary, Willie Naomi Hall DeBerry, Surrenthia Welch Thompson and Irma Jean Welch.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 West Madison Ave., Bastrop. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Funeral arrangements are by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello, AR. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
