Mildred Vincent, 88, of Monticello, AR, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Woods of Monticello Health and Rehabilitation. She was born December 12, 1927, in Drew County, AR, to the late Mack and Alberta Turner Smith.

Mildred received her formal education from Rose Hill School. In addition, she was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant AME Church until she became ill. Mildred was preceded in death by her late husband of 70 years, Charlie Vincent, Sr., whom she married on April 8, 1944; a daughter, Sherry Lambert; a son, Curtis Vincent; two grandsons, Anwar Lambert and Benjamin Vincent.

She leaves to cherish her fond, loving memories, five sons, Charlie (Bennie), Frederick (Marilyn), Willard (Barbara), and Dwight (Melissa) Vincent, all of Monticello, AR, and Victor (Jacqueline) Vincent of Richmond, TX; two daughters, Wonda Chestnut of Rosenberg, TX, and Barbara Benton of Warren, AR; four siblings, Dorothy (Hubert) Martin and Earnest Smith, both of Milwaukee, WI, Charlie Mae Jackson of Wilmar, AR, and Wesley Smith of Monticello, AR; a devoted sister-in-law, Claudia Handley, and a special long-time friend, Francis Christian. She was extremely proud of her 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, as well as, her host of nieces, nephews and friends.

My Aunt Mildred was like a second mom to me. Although she was my mom's sister, she was also her best friend. She and my Uncle Charlie did all they could for me while I was growing up. I always enjoyed talking to her by telephone. When I would come to Arkansas to visit we were always glad to see eachother. My Children, Grandchildren, and Nephews loved her dearly. REST IN PEACE AUNT MILDRED!

Mom, my life will really be empty now. The two major links of the family chain are gone. What replaces them now are the memories you and daddy left behind. So for one last time I will leave you with the words from my favorite book, Love You Forever: "I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my mommy you'll be." You were the best!!!!
