He served as a combat medic with the United States Army in Vietnam, taught carpentry at UAM Vocational School in McGehee, was a self-employed carpenter and was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Hogue; and a granddaughter, Patience Hogue.
Survivors include his wife, Phylliss Derryberry Hogue of Tillar; three sons, John Hogue, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Tillar, Grant Hogue and Kellye of Hondo, TX and Kirk Hogue of McGehee; four brothers, James (Buck) Hogue of Maumelle, Benny Hogue of Tyro, Kenny Hogue of Branson, MO and Randy Hogue of Winchester; six sisters, Ruby Amerson of Redfield, Pat Gill of Russellville, Carolyn Berrie of San Diego, CA, Martha (Lilly) Nichols of Dumas, Peggy Betnar of Branson, MO and Kathy Pitillo of Winchester; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Tillar Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Green officiating. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
