Louisville, KY Monday, March 1, 2010 Verdie was a special lady who came into my life when I was 11 years old. She married my grandfather after my grandmother died.Right away she loved us and treated us like we were hers. She made a great impression on my life.
I guess the most important thing she did, was pray for me and my family. She took me to church, and even taught me how to sing bible verses.
Her and my grandfather came practically every Sat. to visit with us. And she babysit my youngest sister while my mother went to work.
One year she made granny dresses, for me and my 3 younger sisters for Easter, we sure felt special in those dresses.
She made us several quilt through the years, and I had mine put up. I called them my" Verdie quilts." She talked me into using them. I'm sorry to say that we wore them out, but they sure were admired and loved for many years.
She cam to visit with me and my family for a couple days, a few years ago, and during that time she taught me how to make coconut, choc. and lemon meringue pies. I just made one the other day, and had very warm thoughts about her.
You all are a wonderful family. And I know that she will be greatly missed. It's good to know that we will get to see her again some day.
Your all in our thoughts and prayer.
Jim & Judy Schehr, and Family.
