Wesley Michael Cavaness of Monticello departed this life in favor of his heavenly one on January 25, 2017 at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by most of his family and friends. Mike was born October 23, 1935 in Monticello, AR to the late Wesley Cavaness and Louise Dickey Cavaness. He left behind is wife of 54 years, Wanda Diane Harris; one son Robert and wife Katrina; one daughter Melissa Watts-Sanders and husband Sandy Sanders; along with three grandchildren, 2nd Lt Ryan Watts, Kelsey Watts, and Katie Grace Cavaness who were his pride and joy.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and making memories with countless friends and family along the way. He worked at several vocations but most notably as owner and operator of Cavaness Feed & Seed and as your Drew County Clerk for 22 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a United States Army Veteran.

The family asks that you make donations to the Alzheimer Foundation in honor of his beloved Wanda or the church or charity of your choice. Please gain comfort in knowing that his life was well spent and that those of us left behind are all a bit more blessed because we had an opportunity to know and love this most remarkable man.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Spence and Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. My parents were happy when they sold the feed store (Allen's Feed & Seed) to Mike and Wanda back in 1972.     I feel very blessed to have known Mike. I worked at the Courthouse during his entire tenure as County Clerk. He was always there and ready to help anyone do whatever needed to be done.
