Rev. J. C. Rawls, 85, of Monticello, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at The Woods Nursing & Rehab in Monticello. He was born March 11, 1924 in New Edinburg, AR.

He was retired from Burlington Industries, a Minister and a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Edgar Rawls and Omie Dyer Rawls and was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Fern Rawls, one daughter, Arla Piper, two brothers, Larry and Louie Rawls and a great-grandson, Remington Suber.

Survivors include one son, Tim Rawls and wife, Maira, of Monticello; two brothers, Vernon Rawls of Warren and Charles Rawls of Wilmar; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

    This message is to Rev J.C's son Tim your daddy really blessed me when i took care of him he was a sweet and kind person i reamber the last time i seen him and took care of him it was wed night and we talk about you and your sister and he was very proud of you and her and he loved you both so much. im so glade that i got to take care of him. im sorry for your lost hope you and the family are doing well.     So sorry for the loss of Mr. J.C. I worked with him at Burlington until he retired and knew him through Tim and Margie. I will never forget our trip to Devils Den and he made fried potatoes and onions on the campfire and it was awesome. I will also remember the Ham Dressing he used to make. Only one I ever knew. He was always cuttin up and laughing. Good memories..

    Tim, it is sad to hear of you're father's death. He was a "MAN OF GOD" all my life. I know he is having a shouting good time in heaven with his many friends and loved ones. He has touched so many lives. Always happy as a Christian should be.

    So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Rawls. We had some nice visits with him at Annswood and heard some wonderful stories of his memories of our dad (and mom's (Jean's) husband (the late) John F. Briant. He and Mr. Rawls went to school together. Mr. Rawls was a fine gentleman! He will be sorely missed. May God bless and comfort his family at this difficult time.
