Marvin "Dean" C Avant, Sr.

Marvin C. "Dean" Avant, Sr., age 72 of Star City passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 in Monticello. He was born May 29, 1945 in Hampton, AR to the late Marvin E. Avant and Ollie Frances Grisham Avant.

He was a retired mechanic, United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Georgia Avant Barnett, two nieces, Stephanie Barnett Beard and Tonya Avant and one nephew, Jamie Gale.

Survivors include one son, Marvin C. "Pee Wee" Avant, Jr. of Star City; one daughter, Cheryl Avant Hurst and husband Steven of Guthrie, OK; one stepdaughter, Helen Adkins of Guthrie, OK; one brother, Robert Avant of Star City; one sister, Mary Martindale of Star City; two grandsons, Daniel Jarvis and Jonathan Thomas both of Oklahoma City, OK; one granddaughter, Brandy Anderson of Canton, OK; one great-granddaughter, Macie Anderson of Canton, OK; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Rash Cemetery with military honors. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
