Rachel Hambers Vail, age 95 of Sheridan, formerly of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Alcoa Pines Health and Rehab in Benton. She was born October 23, 1922 in Harrisburg, AR to the late Guyel Hambers and Edna Hawkins Hambers.

She was the widow of Marvin Vail, a homemaker, and was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in West Sacramento, CA and often attended Calvary Baptist Church while living in Monticello. Rachel was Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1940 at Harrisburg High School. She loved her family, her church, was a great cook and enjoyed listening to music by George Jones. She will be dearly missed by her granddaughter, great-granddaughter and great-grandson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Pulido; an infant son, Terry Vail; and a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Pulido.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Misty Gamino of Sheridan; one great-grandson, Gerard Garay of Sheridan; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Rodgers and husband Will of MS; three great-great grandchildren, Liam, Jax and Eleanor; one sister, Glenda Miller of LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Monticello. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
