I served in the armed forces.
Bobby Max Browder, age 80 of Monticello passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at his home. He was born at home on December 19, 1939, to the late Laverne Lott Browder and Lela May McGinty Browder. He was the third child of eight raised in rural Arkansas near Humphrey on a rice farm called Sunshine Plantation. Hardship and adversity taught him a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life in his main career as a bread man for Mrs. Baird's Bread in Dallas. He later worked as a bookkeeper at Pelican's and paint associate at Lowe's in Wichita Falls. He graduated high school in 1958 from Selma High School. Bobby served his country in the US Army from 1958-1962 and believed the education he received was so beneficial that all American males should serve in the armed forces.
Bobby enjoyed playing golf and his fellow players enjoyed his inspirational phraseology like 'What is a dickey-doo?' His favorite things were to watch old westerns or to read a western novel. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns until he moved back to Arkansas and forgot about the Longhorns for some other team.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Norman and Stanley Browder; and his first wife, Marty Browder.
Bobby is survived by wife and high school sweetheart, Gloria Jean Dickinson Browder of Monticello; his children, Melissa and husband Scott Plowman, Darrin and wife Ann-Marie Browder; stepsons, Rick Dickinson and Todd Dickinson and wife Leslie; one brother, Donald Browder; four sisters, Wanda Black, Brenda Barnhill, Cheryl Browder and Gayle Schultz grandchildren, Arrin, Amanda, Dawson and wife Kaylee Plowman, Dalton and Victoria Browder, Alisha and husband Nick Engelkes, Emily and husband Patrick Davis, Cole Dickinson, and Tyler Dickinson; great- grandchildren, Preston Case, Bronson Case and Emilia Engelkes.
Bobby's memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15th at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and masks will be required. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.

Family, I am so sorry to hear this news. He was very loved and will be missed. I'm glad I got to see him in Little Rock with Gloria at the hospital, and hate it that he got sick again. You are in my prayers.

Bob was my friend. We worked together at Mrs Baird's for over 30 years, bowled together, played golf and softball together. He was one of the best people I've ever known. I always admired the way he could do math in his head faster than I could with a calculator. He had the unique ability to analyze a situation and break it down to the simplest terms - often putting it in the category of "ignorant sh*t". Rest in Peace, my friend. I will miss you..

Bobby was my next farm neighbor and a very close friend. Our teen years mimicked each other. We were class mates, B-ball team mates at Selma and enjoyed life as it come. So I can say that Bob was a great achiever and a great person to call friend. Blessings to all the family.
