Betty Lou Miller Howlett, age 80 of Little Rock, formerly of Monticello, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020, at her home in Little Rock. She was born March 10, 1940, in Monticello, AR to the late Loie Miller and Emma Lawson Miller.

She was the widow of John Joe Howlett, Sr. and a Baptist. Mrs. Betty began her career as a school teacher before becoming a homemaker. She also later worked as a Surgery Hostess at Doctor's Hospital. One of her favorite things to do was to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. All of the employees knew her and they were all very special to her. She also enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, watching the QVC Channel but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, John Howlett, Jr. and wife Stephanie of East End, AR and Lew Howlett and wife Karen of Greenbrier; one daughter, Kathy Howlett Mayo of Conway; one sister, Emma Jean Wiscaver of Monticello; eight grandchildren, Zach Mayo, Jacob Mayo, Jessica Howlett, Sarah Mayo, Justin Howlett, Hunter Howlett, Colton Howlett and Easton Howlett; her three nieces, Carolyn Smith and husband Harold, Beverly Stevenson and husband Larry and Tommie Moyers and husband George; and a special friend, Aletha Sneed.

The family would like to issue a special "thank you" to Dr. Brown and his nurse Gina, Jessica with Elite Home Health and Arkansas Hospice for the excellent care they gave to our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020, in Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Larry Clements and Rev. Buddy Lemons officiating. A viewing adhering to COVID-19 guidelines will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.

So sorry for your loss. Y’alls house was always the fun house! I loved your mom & dad. I just made her Mexican Chicken last week. My daughter makes it for her family all the time. There is no telling how many people I have shared that recipe with. Every time I make it I think about the first time I had it at her table. Much love to all of you! Lynn Etheridge Bass
