He was a retired educator with 60 plus years of service and a member of Second Baptist Church. Dr. Jones loved the outdoors and raising flowers and plants. He was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, Arkansas Early Childhood Association and was very involved in Project Wild with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Ollie Jones; his wife, Virginia M. Jones; and a brother, Tom Jones.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Jones, Billy Jones and Larry Jones all of Monticello; one daughter, Deborah West of Wilmar; one brother, Jimmy Jones of Newport; eight grandchildren, Tim West, Megan Jones, Tabatha Shoaf, Leslie Forrest, Matthew West, Charles Jones, Virginia Clause and Tyler Jones; and seventeen great grandchildren.
Graveside service following Covid-19 guidelines will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020, in Pleasant Springs Cemetery with Rev. Ray Hearron officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Dr. C. I remember walking across campus one day, and he told me to come and see him.
