His hobbies included fishing, bowling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Ladelle Baptist Church and the Monticello Post of the VFW. He was a graduate of Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN and a veteran of the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Jackie Lee Heavner.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Kimberly DeRoeck and husband Robert, Bobbie Jo Detwiler, and Melinda Harris and husband Michael all of Monticello; three grandchildren Joshua Holland of Hot Springs, Madelynn and Nathan DeRoeck of Monticello; a sister, Sharon Lee and husband James of Monticello; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 9, 2020, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Ladelle Baptist Church, Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church and burial will follow in Ladelle Cemetery with Military Honors. Please be sure to sign the online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
