Birthia Irene ''Aunt Birt'' Lunsford Thurman, age 86 of Fountain Hill, AR, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at The Woods Nursing and Rehab in Monticello, AR. She was born June 30, 1937, in Lincoln County, AR to the late Marvin Benjamin Lunsford and Hattie Garner Lunsford.
She was the widow of Marshall Thurman, a retired bank teller at Dermott First State Bank, a Baptist and a homemaker. Mrs. Thurman enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and also loved watching episodes of Gunsmoke and ballgames in her spare time. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Havis Lunsford; six sisters, Cecil Bolen, Ardell Camp, Edna Bolen, Rosa Owen, Dorthia Lunsford and Maybelle Green; and a step-daughter, Melinda Thurman Adcock.
She is survived by two sons, David ''Gene'' Owen and Marvin ''Dean'' Owen and wife Cathy all of Monticello; one step-son, Darrell ''Butch'' Thurman and wife Dawn of Crosby, MS; one step-daughter, Mitzi Williams of Crossett; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Lacey Cemetery. There will be a visitation preceding the graveside service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the cemetery.
