He was a farmer and a Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Michelle Steed Wood; daughters, Meagan Thayer, Kim Herring, Sam Herring, Irene Herring and Summer Herring; sons, Justin Herring and Daniel Herring; his biological mother, Joyce J. Summers Petrone; father, Paul E. Petrone; his mother who raised him, Frances McCown; brothers, James A. Wood (Sharon Wood) and Less Genn; sisters, Charlotte J. Wood, Karen Genn, Donna Johnston and Sue Genn Aaron; nine grandchildren, Keyton, Isabella, Kizer, Stormi, Ryder, Layla, Jethro, Junie and Ana'lyse; nieces, Amber, Laura, Angel and Margie; nephews, Allan and John; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
