He was a retired logger and a longtime member of the Friendship Pentecostal Church Of God. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lee Alexander and a sister, Mattie Jane Haynes.
Survivors include his wife, Retta Ann Kellum Higgins of Monticello; two sons, Steven Higgins and James Higgins both of Monticello; two daughters, Elizabeth King and Brenda Young both of Monticello; four brothers, Jerry Higgins of Monticello, George Higgins of Ladelle, Clay Higgins of North Carolina and Fred Higgins of Delhi, LA; four sisters, Lethel Losh Higgins of Bolivar, MO, Mary Lloyd of Monticello, Grace Watts of Truman and Iris Bush of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
