He retired from Granite City Steel Mill in Illinois after 30 years and was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Warren. He enjoyed the outdoors, was a hunter, fisherman, gardener and loved the Lord, serving his Church. He was a loving dad, granddad and enjoyed his Christian friends, neighbors and family. He was the son of the late Ernest Hayes and Myrtle Herren Hayes and was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Crook Hayes.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Hayes and Timothy Hayes, both of Granite City, IL; two daughters, Brenda Hayes of Warren and Mary Beth Jones of Granite City, IL; one brother, James Hayes of Doniphan, MO; one sister, Shirley Mae Hart of California, MO; ten grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.
