She was a homemaker, a member of Northside Baptist Church, was an avid reader and loved working in her flower garden. She had a gift for giving and always made sure her family had what they needed before doing for herself. She endured struggles and sacrifices that we didn't understand until we had children of our own. She was extremely proud of us, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandson. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally. She told us once that she wanted to leave us something when she left this earth...you did, Mom. You left us the most precious gifts of all...yourself. You will live on forever through your grandchildren. Thank you Mom for all of your sacrifices. Now it's time for you to rest, go walk the streets of gold and prepare your mansion because we'll all be seeing you again someday.
Survivors include the father of her children and lifelong companion, Robert G. Gray of Monticello; two sons, Jeff Gray and wife Kim of Cabot and David Gray and wife Mandy of Magnolia; one daughter, Denise Garcia and husband Carlos of Monticello; one brother, Richard Courtney of Vicksburg, MS; three sisters, Caroldine Lair of Monticello, Joanne Hughes of Lacombe, LA and Jean Montero of Hammond, LA; five grandchildren, Britni, Aaron, Elizabeth, Emily and Brycen and one great grandchild, Benjamin.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 19 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
