Emmett B. Smith, age 75 of Lake Village, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home in Lake Village. He was born on June 5, 1940 in Hattiesburg, MS to the late George G. Smith and Oree L. Odom Bowers Smith.

He was a retired self-employed video store owner/operator and a Baptist. He also worked for the railroad, worked in the grocery business and was a lab courier for different medical clinics. Emmett enjoyed living on the lake, fishing, birdwatching, and feeding his squirrels. He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald D., Jerry, Robert, and Ronald Dale; one sister, Kathy Daniels; and one stepson, Freddie Burdine.

He is survived by his wife, Paulette Stipe Smith of Lake Village; one son, Ron Smith and wife Sherri of Cave Springs; two daughters, Debbe Smith Watson and husband Stephen of Beaumont, TX and Lisa Smith Swain and husband Danny of Monticello; two sisters, Barbara Watmough of Spring, TX and Katie Bowers of Ocean Springs, MS; one brother, Larry Bowers of Ocean Springs, MS; one stepson, Bradley Burdine and wife Candy of Cunningham, TN; one stepdaughter, Phyllis Hendricks and husband Mark of Fortson, GA; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David Jacks officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M Thursday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
