She taught Sunday school, sponsored youth groups, was a lifetime member of the women of the church and served as a deacon and an elder. She served as President of the Junior Auxiliary and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was the ultimate Razorback fan. Virginia was a graduate of A&M College in Monticello, AR. She was a devoted and beloved teacher; she taught kindergarten at her home and had a 22 year career as a first grade teacher at W.C. Whaley Elementary School. She was the last family member to leave Drew County since her ancestors settled in Saline community in 1860.

Little Rock, TX Saturday, August 1, 2015 Miss Virginia was the person I always wanted to be like since the mid-sixties. I haven't achieved it yet! She was my encourager, my mentor, my comforter, my "other mother." Her life has been a blessing to me and my child Leabeth--and to all who knew her. Miss Virgina's children and their children are also blessings to all who know them as well. Just thinking of her fills me with joy and gratitude for all those blessings over the years! Love to all, DianeVIRGINIA & R.H. CASTEEL

Monticello, AR Wednesday, July 29, 2015 Virginia Claire, Patricia, Jane and Libba, I hope four copies are made of this so each of you can have one. Our Stephenson family and the Johnson family go back so many years ago. I am sure I speak for my siblings as well, Ray, Raoul and Susan. Your mom and ours grew up together, and married about the same time, Your parents had five children and my parents had four. The times spent in your home with "Mama Davis" in the kitchen always cooking the wonderful meals, the Christmas mornings that your family came to our home, ... so many wonderful memories! We were blessed to have all of you in our lives and I know how much you will miss her. I send you my heartfelt love and sympathy for the loss of a loving, precious lady :)
