LaVel Lawson Carr
March 18, 1945 - November 10, 2015

LaVel Dean (Lawson) Carr, age 70 of Monticello, AR passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Drew Memorial Hospital. She was born March 18, 1945 in Monticello to the late Jesse James Lawson and Geraldine (Cruce) Lawson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

LaVel is survived by her loving caregiver, Robert Lawson of Monticello; two daughters, Bonnie (Carr) McDonald-Purdue and Shawn Par-Due of Alexandria, KY and Michelle "Shelly" Ailes and husband Scott of Jamestown, IN; one son, Bill Carr of Ft. Worth TX; two sisters, Francis Hatcher of Phoenix, AZ and Lorraine Christmas and husband, Tim of Monticello; three brothers, Willard Lawson of Washington State, Doug Lawson and wife, Laura of Lexington, MS and Jerry Lawson and wife Kathy of Monticello; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and the father of her children, William P. Carr of Alexandria, KY.

LaVel is remembered as a loving, talented, wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, always putting her family and others first. LaVel's legacy is that she always stood firmly for those things in which she believed.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 13, 2015 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Ailes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Online guestbook: www.stephensondearman.com .
