Valeto Christine Donaldson Carter, age 95 of Hamburg, formerly of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Stone Gate Villa in Crossett. She was born August 22, 1920 in Drew County, AR to the late John Donaldson and Edna Myhand Donaldson.

She was the widow of Lemoine Carter, a retired sales clerk and factory worker, having worked at Otasco and Rexall Drug Stores for many years. Mrs. Carter was a very active member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church until moving to Ashley County in 2008 where she attended First Baptist Church in Hamburg with her daughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters. She also taught first through fourth grades for a year at Green Mount School, a one room school house with eight students.

Survivors include her daughter, LaWanda Carter Johnson and husband Larry D. of Hamburg; a granddaughter, Janay Johnson Jacks of Hamburg; one grandson, Paul Lemoine Johnson of Monticello; one great-grandchild, Tyler Garrett Jacks of Hamburg; along with many nieces, nephews and host of friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Pleasant Springs Cemetery. Visitation 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
