Richard Allen McCray, age 69 of Monticello passed away, March 20, 2016 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. Richard was born February 25, 1947 to the late James Andrew McCray and the late Mattie Lou Swift. He joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church at an early age where he remained until his death. He attended Drew High School and was self-employed with McCray's Logging.

He was married to Bernice Maddox; with this union five kids were born. He was preceded in death by his father, James A McCray; mother, Mattie L. Swift; step-mother Leloa McCray and two baby girls, deceased at birth.

He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Sharon (Chris) Anderson, LaRhonda (Stacey) Nelson both from Arizona and Tracie (Troy) Bradshaw from California; one son, Richard T. McCray of Monticello; five brothers, Malvin (Alberta) Ridgell of Sherwood, Cecil (Ann) of New Jersey, Charles Robinson, James (Hazelene) McCray and Dewayne McCray all of Monticello; ten sisters, Charlene McCray of California, Gloria Trudo and Corine McCray Smith both of Milwaukee, WI, Patricia A. Smith from Memphis, TN; Gwendolyn McCray Arrington, Patsy (Leo) Williams, Wanda McCray-Lowe, Bennie McCray (Charley) Vincent, Vickey McCray (Charles) Jacobs all from Monticello; Lola McCray (Arthur) Bess from Murfreesboro, TN; ten grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives who loved him dearly. A special stepson, Lamar Jackson and a very special lady and caregiver, Miss Patricia Staples.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mt. Zion A.M.E. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
