Sister Earnestine Stanley nickname was "Pete", but her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and others later in her life knew her as "Mommatine". One reason was for the fact that she did not want to be called Grandma or Grandmother.
Sister Earnestine Stanley attended Drew School in the New Light community where she was a scholar student. Sister Earnestine will be remembered as the first African American Dorm Mother at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Sister Earnestine attended Arkansas Tech University and earned Honors in the Foster Grandparents-Senior Companion Coalition Training. She was awarded the Governor's Volunteer Excellence Award by then Governor Bill Clinton.
Sister Earnestine confessed Christ at an early age in Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. She served as Secretary and choir director for many years. She was a current board member and Trustee at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the secretary of Southeast District Singing Union # 3 of which she served many years faithfully. She was ordained as an Eastern Star.
Sister Earnestine was joined together with Lee Stanley in 1938. She was blessed with two children whom she loved and cared for all of her life; the late Charles Stanley and Johnny Maxine (Stanley) Veasey of Monticello, Arkansas and 6 generations of children.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her daughter, Johnny Maxine Veasey of Monticello, and daughter-in-law, Christeen (Charles) Stanley; half-brother Maurice (Mae Lean) Ashford; nieces, Johnny May (Rufus) Thompson, Lillie Bee (Woodard) Wherry; grandchildren, Marylin (Chris) Simmons of Monticello, Melvin (Wanda) Veasey of North Little Rock, Leron Veasey (Toya) and Kirby (Elaine) Veasey both of Monticello, Darrell Lee (Kathleen)Veasey and Raymond (Latonya) Veasey both of Corning, New York, Ervin Stanley of Monticello, Willie James Stanley of Los Angeles, CA, Steve (Ebra) Leonard of Monticello, AR and Roger Jordan of Alaska.

Little Rock, AR Friday, April 15, 2016 My Dearly Beloved Members of Our family, Grief is a perfect normal response to the death of our loved one Mrs. Earnestine Stanley. It is an adjustment process, which will allow all of us too gradually to accept this loss. The process is the same whether we are grieving the loss of another significant person.Mrs. Earnestine Stanley was truly a role model, supporting and armor barrier force for her immediate and extended family. Aunt Earnestine demanded nothing but par excellence from all family and she demanded it firmly and compassionately. The fruits of her immediate family tree give validity to the works she did all in the name of Jesus Christ for Middle Class and upper wards were her standards for all of us. Aunt Earnestine was the bulwark of the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church where she 90% of the time maintained, improved and made additions to the Church for over 60 years giving validity that the Works she done speaks for her. Let it be resolved through this Resolution that for Earnestine Stanley, Death is not a Blind Alley that Leads Her into a State of Nothingness but an Open Door that Leads Her into Eternal Life with Jesus Christ and El Shaddhi (The Almighty God) for she did her job so well the living, the dead or the unborn could not did it any better.
The death of Mrs. Earnestine Stanley from this mortal state to immortality is a great loss and it is necessary to acknowledge it not only to our self-but to others. The adjustment will be easier for all our family members by feeling free in expressing our respective grief. In addition to our feelings of despair and loneliness, we all have to lose control of our emotions. Painful as it is, it is part of the normal grieving process.
However, there is also an intensifying of faith in Jesus Christ, which gives each of us sufficient inner strength to carry us through this difficult period.
Finally, with the passing of time, there will be a gradual severing of Mrs. Earnestine Stanley thoughts and emotional ties. As We emerge from this bereavement We all will discover that We are a stronger person than We were before her death. We all will have gained a deeper faith, along with increased sensitivity, and greater understanding and compassion for one another and for others.
