Mardelle Crawford Henley, age 78 of Monticello, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born March 3, 1938 in Hamburg, AR to the late Elbert Oliver Crawford and Sue Jackson Crawford.

She was a retired school teacher, secretary, librarian and homemaker. She was a graduate of Arkansas A&M (now UAM) and had been a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church for 18 years, which was the church she and Phillip attended when they both were in college. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years James Philip Henley of Monticello; two sons, Mark Henley of Portland, ME and Brent Henley and wife Sherrita of Plano, TX; one sister, Maedean Crawford Shivers of Crossett; two grandsons, Richard Henley Powers of North Carolina and Aidyn Henley of Plano, TX; a sister-in-law Melba Wilkins of Crossett; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
