He was a retired Lieutenant for the Monticello Police Department where he was in charge of radio operators for 29 years and 6 months, a Mason and was a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Carpenter; one brother, Henry Crook; and two sisters, Edith Hays and Charlene Waymire.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Scott Crook of Monticello; one son, Terry Crook of Monticello; two grandsons, Jerry Richard Cater and John A. "Alex" Crook both of Monticello; one granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Cater of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Oledia Crook of Monticello; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service with Masonic Rites will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
