Charlotte Odean Smith Taylor, age 89 of Monticello, formerly of Selma passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 a t The Woods Nursing and Rehab Facility in Monticello. She was born April 30, 1927 in Selma, AR to the late Milton Baylock Smith and Ruth Posey Smith.

She was the widow of Billy Taylor, and worked for Selma Mercantile for many years. She was later co-owner of Taylor Grocery Store at Selma with her late husband, Billy Taylor. She enjoyed yard work and was an immaculate housekeeper. She loved playing basketball and played for Tillar High School back in the day. She loved Selma, where she grew up. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Smith and Roy Smith and one sister, Mary Helen Bradshaw.

Survivors include one brother, Jimmy Smith of Selma; two nephews, Stanley Smith and James Roy Smith; four nieces, Linda Lake, Patricia Cook, Suzie Cooper and Penny Scharf, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Selma Cemetery. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
