Lorena Sanderlin Gates, age 82 of Monticello, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born November 5, 1935 in Drew County, AR to the late D. C. Sanderlin and Willie Lee Shelton Sanderlin.

She was the widow of J. E. Gates, a retired teacher and librarian and was a very faithful member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of Delta Kappa Gama Sorority. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Eugene Sanderlin, John Sanderlin, Jr., Bo Sanderlin, Billy Sanderlin and Howard Sanderlin; one sister, Laverne Rickman; a son-in-law, Aaron Stallmann; and a step-daughter, Billye Garrett.

Survivors include one son, Gene Gates and wife Amanda of Fayetteville; one daughter, Jayme Stallmann of Benton; two brothers, D. C. "Pete" Sanderlin of Ypsilanti, MI and Jimmy Sanderlin of Monroe, LA; one sister, LaNell McKiever of Monticello; six grandchildren, Madelynn Gates and fiance Elliott Collins and Jay Kent Gates all of Fayetteville, Klara Stallmann and AJ Stallmann both of Benton, Gates Self and fiance Katie Smith of Houston, TX and Walker Self and wife Christina of Dallas, TX; and one step daughter, Glenda Self of Houston, TX.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Union Ridge Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
