She was the widow of Arthur Lee Newton, Sr., retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of East Side Missionary Baptist Church. Her passion in life was the Relay for Life. Having had cancer herself in 1986, she supported and was involved in that endeavor. She and her late husband, owned and operated Quality Cleaners and owned and operated a grocery store at the corner of Boyd and Jackson, where many students patronized them, and would even sell a half of a sandwich if that was what they wanted. Ethel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was very faithful to her Lord and church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Robbie Faye Swan, two brothers, George Adams and Frank Adams, one sister, Hazel Ogles and one grandson, Randy Newton.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur Lee Newton, Jr. and wife Diane and Carlton Newton and wife Lila, both of Monticello; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-granddaughter.

Searcy, AR Wednesday, June 27, 2018 I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the family for the loss of your dear Ethel. I hope that you will find comfort in the words of Jesus at John 5:28,29 where he promised that the day is coming when he is going to resurrect back to life those in the grave. Until then, it is just like they are sleeping. (John 11:11-13) May your family draw strength from Jehovah, the God of all Comfort.William and Luanne Marshall
