Josephine was preceded in death by Parents William Joseph and Mayme Ford Holt, husband Master Sgt. Clayton B. Bowman, sisters Aileen Holt Williamson, Shirley Edna Holt.
Survived by her husband Ret. Lt. Col. USA Robert Kauffman, sons Ret. Lt. Col. USA Clayton (Butch) Bowman (Jennifer Cui) of Charlottesville, VA; Joseph Holt Bowman (Jenifer) of Check, VA; Daughters Melissa Robbins (Thomas G. Alls) of Stem, NC, and Lisa Kelley of Monticello, AR.; Grandchildren Clayton Fletcher Bowman, Artemis and Sylvie Bowman, Lydia and Ford Bowman, Rebecca and Caroline Robbins, Mary Katherine Titsworth (Daniel), John Bowman (Bo) Kelley, Carolyn Josephine Kelley, Great Granddaughter Zinny Josephine Titsworth. Stepdaughters: Jan Kauffman Ward (Capt. Ret. USA Norm Ward), Sandy Kauffman (Michael Doucette), Step grandchildren: Bryan and David Ward, Peter Doucette. Brothers Hooper Holt, Augusta, GA, Tom Holt (Judy), Newport. Sisters Janice Canan, Muncie IN, Irene Hance (Gary), Dandridge. Numerous nieces and nephews who adore her, special uncle Edsel (Bobbie) Ford.
Josephine was born August 19, 1935 in Newport and grew up in the New Prospect community. After graduating from Cosby High School, she was employed by the FBI in Washington, DC. Josephine became a believer in Christ at a young age and continued to pursue God's Word throughout her life. She was an associate of Berachah Church, Houston, TX, and a member of First Baptist Church in Monticello, AR. Josephine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had adoration for her siblings which was reciprocal and for many summers the entire family have vacationed together. Josephine was an avid reader, wonderful cook, enjoyed history. While living in Virginia she was a Docent for the Robert E. Lee childhood home. A beautiful life in time and for all eternity.
Services will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Manes Funeral Chapel, Newport, TN. Visitation one hour prior to service.
