He was a pipeline worker and a Baptist. He was the son of the late Thomas Newton James and Cindy Ann Hassell James and was preceded in death by one step-son, W.D. Parrott, four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Rowena Poteet James of Monticello; three sons, Buddy James and Bruce James, both of Warren and Wesley James and wife, Judy of Monticello; two daughters, Linda Crook and husband Don of Monticello and Joline Lee and husband James of Lathrop, MO; one step-son Roy Parrott of Atkins, AR; two step-daughters, Jenne Sullivan and Barbara Ogles, both of Warren, AR; nineteen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
